What is a future missionary?
If you are a person who is seriously interested in exploring the idea of missionary service, whether that be for a couple of years or for a long-term career, or if you are certain you are called to be a missionary overseas, EFM is calling you a “future missionary” and designing opportunities for you.
Why participate in these opportunities?
We are observing that it is a mutual game-changer for groups of future missionaries, groups of EFM mentors, and EFM staff to know each other face-to-face in relationships through retreats and trips.

Field Experiences are typically provided for persons to gain experience, training, and discernment, who are serious about pursuing a missionary career and are usually 2-12 months in length. A field experience is kind of like an internship. Field internships are usually custom-designed for each future missionary, and are often best served in teams of 2-5, or as a family, but occasionally can be solo. It is an option for EFM to provide a salary during the field experience. Just like any short-term or long-term/career missionary service assignments, EFM equips participants to successfully raise all funds necessary to cover the cost to complete an assignment. |
EFM encourages everyone in our churches to take the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course so they can become more familiar with God’s overall mission for His church. EFM requires anyone interested in becoming a career missionary to take this course.

EFM is currently offering various types of Luke 10 Trips to our approved and potential new mission fields! The approved new mission fields are Mexico, Ecuador, Northeast Brazil, Greece, the Gulf States, and South Sudan. The fields still under exploration are Tanzania, The Balkans, and Cambodia. |
EFM is excited to announce that we have launched a Disciple-Making Apprenticeship opportunity for future missionaries! This apprenticeship is in partnership with North County Project (NCP) in Southern California and will provide opportunities for further training, experience, and discernment for missionary service. NCP Apprentices focus on sharing their faith and making disciples on college campuses or other strategic locations together with an experienced mentor. |
EFM partners with Discipling for Development Training Academy for this course. The Discipling for Development Online Training Program (D4D OTP) is a 10-month learning community designed to give you a better understanding of whole-life discipleship alongside vulnerable populations in your local context. This program offers an in-depth exploration of the principles and practices of holistic disciple-making, asset-based community development, and God’s heart for communities pushed to the margins. In addition, participants will develop skills in adult learning, Bible telling, and practical application. |
