EFM’s first mission field was established in Mexico City in 1967. Roscoe and Tina Knight, former missionaries to Bolivia under NWYM, were the first missionaries. Various missionary households followed the Knights and worked in Mexico City up until 2003. The churches that have been planted are under the leadership of Mexico Yearly Meeting. A Bible institute program has been added to help train leaders in various parts of Mexico.
In 2006 EFM sent a missionary team to Aguascalientes. Missionaries served there until 2018. Churches were planted in the city and the surrounding area. They are part of Mexico Yearly Meeting.
Currently, there are no EFM missionaries in Mexico, but EFM has been giving some coaching and ministry support to missionaries from Mexico Yearly Meeting who are working in other states of Mexico like Sinaloa and Zacatecas. Mexico Yearly Meeting has a goal to establish a Friends church in every state of Mexico by the year 2032. They are well on their way toward accomplishing that goal. This may lead to EFM missionaries serving in Mexico once again to help plant some of those churches.
