The vision of EFM’s Five-Year Goal, established in 2020, launched what we now call the Luke 10 Era. Through that vision, God has led us to identify, explore, and begin opening new mission fields around the world. Today, that work continues through the Luke 10 Initiative as we seek to faithfully discern where He is calling us next.
The Luke 10 Initiative is EFM’s prayerful process for discerning where God is leading us to start new mission fields. As the missions agency serving regions and yearly meetings, churches, and individuals, EFM depends on their active participation in this shared discernment. The Luke 10 Initiative begins with Luke 10 Think Tanks, where four types of participants gather to listen, pray, and discern potential locations and people groups using EFM’s CAN GO Criteria. From there, Luke 10 Trips are sent to promising areas to build relationships, learn from local believers, and seek God’s direction on the ground.
The insights gained through the think tanks and exploration trips are prayerfully evaluated before recommendations are made to the EFM Board. New mission fields are launched only when all five of EFM’s CAN GO Criteria are clearly affirmed, ensuring each new field is rooted in careful discernment, strategic partnership, and dependence on God’s leading.

Why is the Luke 10 Initiative Important?
According to the Joshua Project, there are still over 7,000 unreached people groups!
This is about 3.23 billion or 41.6% of the world’s population who has not heard the Good News of the gospel.
