The mission field in Rwanda began in 1986 with Willard and Doris Ferguson and George and Dorothy Thomas, former missionaries under EFC-MAYM in Burundi. Currently, one missionary household is serving in Rwanda: The Carpenter Family (Brad and Chelsea). Over the years many churches have been planted and all are under the leadership of Evangelical Friends Church Rwanda. The ministry focus of EFM in Rwanda right now is partnering with African leaders in whole-life discipleship which seeks to bring the lordship of Jesus Christ into every aspect of life (spiritual, physical, and relational). This disciple-making movement is not only expanding in Rwanda but also crossing borders into Burundi and the DRC Congo. The team is expecting that not only will this movement continue to result in church planting, but that it will also help fuel pioneer missions-sending among those who are not yet reached in Africa and beyond.
Great Lakes Leadership Training (GLLT) also has a presence in Rwanda! To learn more about this program visit here.
