I’m writing this deputation announcement letter from my office here in Newberg, Oregon. I’m aware of God’s smile, of his delight in me and in my path at this time in my life. I’m aware of Holy Spirit’s excitement as he whispers again, “The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea!” (Habakkuk 2:14)
We are blessed to be living in one of the most exciting times in world history! Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:14, “This gospel of the kingdom will be declared as a living witness to all nations (all ethnic groups) all around the world, and then the end will come.” With 42% of ethnic groups and the world population still to be reached, we are still a long way from this task being completed. God’s promise to us now is that.
“In the last days, God Says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.”
“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Acts 2:17-18, 21 (Joel 2:28-32 NIV)
I remember paragliding off a mountain in southern Turkey on the Mediterranean Sea. The Kairos time we are in right now before this revival, this Great Awakening we are about to experience, it feels like we are running down a slope on the top of a mountain, the wind is filling our sail and our feet are just beginning to leave the ground. The Holy Spirit is about to take us on the best ride of our lives!
I love the place I’m at in life now. I’m 52 years young. Debby and I are growing and thriving here in Newberg, Oregon. I love supporting her and praying for the College of Business and all of George Fox University where she works. Our Dome home is a life-giving place, and I love the early Springtime when it starts to warm up enough to get outside and trim trees and prepare the gardens for this new season of light!
January and February this year were quite busy with three trips (Bolivia, California and Kansas). I was away for a month total and am glad to have some time at home before the next trips.
Last week, I sat down and began to look at the information EFM has been sending me regarding my funding status, giving records, suggested phone calls and church connections. Honestly, even though this information is always available to me, I haven’t looked at it for a while.
So, the first thing I need to say is “Thank you!” Thank you for giving and praying for me without any direct response from me except for occasional ministry trip updates.
Over the last few years, for many understandable reasons, my support has dropped to 63% of the recurring gifts necessary to meet my ongoing monthly needs. So, I am spending the next few months connecting with partners and raising my support base back up to 100%.
I have two trips planned in the next two months. I will be traveling to Rwanda and Burundi for a missionary sending conference at Kibimba, Burundi the last week of April. From there I will travel on to Chiang Rai, Thailand for a week of coaching the first week of May. At the end of May Debby and I will travel to Quaker Ridge Camp above Colorado Springs to participate as missionary mentors in EFM’s Future Missionary Retreat. The rest of this time in April, through July I am available to connect with people who are interested in partnering with me.
We are moving through a time of transition into a new era. It is like paragliding. Jesus has invited me to fly, and I’ve said “Yes!” We have just left the launch site and are beginning to soar. I don’t exactly know what these next years hold, but I do know Jesus and I trust his paragliding ability and I know this will be an amazing flight with amazing views! Join me and let’s fly together with Jesus into this new era!
There are two ways to support me:
Prayer: I currently have 894 prayer partners and am setting a goal to increase that to 1,000. You can sign up to be a prayer partner at https://friendsmission.com/david-thomas/. Please also share this link with anyone that you believe may want to sign up to partner with me in prayer. Financial: If you are a current monthly supporter, thank you! It is important to let EFM know that you plan to continue or increase your giving. If you are not currently giving, I would ask you to prayerfully consider supporting me and my ministry. There are four ways to give:
