Through a church in Florida called Morningside (connected to EFC-ER) relationships were begun in Haiti, especially with the William and Marie Bertrand family. In 1998 the Bertrands began a Friends ministry there that focuses on church planting, pastoral training, education for children, a nutrition center, and other related ministries. In 2001 they expanded their ministries into The Dominican Republic. Since 2019 these ministries have been under the care of EFM.
