Pray for the 10:2 Prayer Trip to Mexico

By November 2024, EFM had made a commitment to launch seven of the nine fields that were under exploration. Those seven fields are now moving on to the prayer and pre-launch planning phases. See more information aquí.

A 10:2 Prayer Trip is an annual trip to the mission fields where EFM has committed to sending missionaries. Teams are asked to pray for the soil (Matthew 13:1-23) and pray for the workers (Luke 10:2). Teams are sent or guided by sponsoring regions/yearly meetings of the new EFM fields that have been leading exploration. 10:2 Prayer Trips will target appropriate communities for prayer walking and interceding that “the Kingdom come, and God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven” in those places.

This next 10:2 Prayer Trip is taking place in Mexico, from January 1-9. The team will be focusing on prayer in Zacatecas and Durango

The team members going on this trip are, from EFC- MAYM, DeWayne Bryan, Todd Follette, Michael Scott, John Bertram, Austin Ackerman, Andrew McClosky, Luke Ballard, Nathan Macy, and Trent Jacks. From Mexico: Ernesto Ramirez (superintendent Mexico YM Central), Elizabeth Gómez (Director of Friends Bible Institute), and Omar Ramírez (Pastor starting a church in Zacatecas).

Team leader Trent Jacks shared the following goals for this trip.

Encourage the existing church plant in Zacatecas. We will pray for the location, church attenders, and the harvest workers called to this plant. We are praying for clarity in ways that we can serve this group in our short time there. Please pray for relationships that may develop and perhaps a project for this group to work on.
Explore and pray for a church plant location in Durango. We will pray for the location, church attenders, and the harvest workers called to this plant. We pray that EFM leaders and Mexico Yearly Meeting leaders find clarity and a calling to a specific location in Durango.
Another goal is that the short-term missionaries find a deeper relationship with Christ and individual purpose for their own lives as well as a greater sense of purpose within their home church.

Please Pray for :

Harvest workers for these locations.
That the Holy Spirit will move and prepare the way for a movement in these areas of Mexico.
New relationships with the Zacatecas Church.
Safe travels for all.
For the short-term missionaries as they give of their time, talent and treasure for the glory of God’s work in Mexico.

The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to cast out more workers into his fields.

Pray for the 10:2 Prayer Trip to South Sudan

This next 10:2 Prayer Trip is taking place in Juba, South Sudan, from November 15-24. The team will be focusing on prayer in Juba Two and Kapoeta.

The team members going on this trip are: from EFC- Rwanda, Jean Paul Nsekanabo (Missions Team Chair), Nicodeme and Annonciatha Basebya with daughter Joy (approved missionary candidates) and Brad Carpenter (EFM Missionary); and from Mexico Yearly Meeting North, Samuel Vasquez (Pastor); and from the U.S., Kevin and Melissa Hoppock (EFM board member), Tony and Stacey Wheeler (EFM board member), and Matt Macy (EFM staff).

Juba Two is a fast-growing suburb of the capital city, Juba, where many refugees are returning in this peacetime era to reestablish residence in South Sudan. The South Sudan Field Study Group senses that the mission will likely launch in Juba Two. Kapoeta is a more remote town with many rural villages in the area that are unreached people following animistic traditional tribal religions. The exploration and pre-launch planning teams have had their hearts drawn to the many remote areas of South Sudan, where few have heard that Jesus loves them.

Team prayer leaders Kevin and Melissa Hoppock share these insights and prayer requests:

We are most excited about this critical moment in stewarding the movement by preparing the soil through intercession and partnership with Rwandan missionaries for the harvest to come.

Please pray that our ears would be attuned to the Holy Spirit as he guides us to the places and people who can create the connections that will be necessary for the mission to thrive.
We pray for favor among government officials, police, and all in authority.
Please pray for divine protection from any political unrest, spiritual opposition, and over the health and well-being of the team.
Pray that God gives us wisdom as we create a cross-cultural missionary team.

Pray for the Second Luke 10 Exploration Trip to Eastern Europe

By Fall 2023, 17 teams had been sent out to explore 11 different potential new mission fields since EFM’s Five-Year Goal launched in 2021. In November 2023, EFM made a commitment to launching 6 of the 9 fields which were still under exploration. Those six fields are now moving on to pre-launch phases. Meanwhile, we are currently still sending Luke 10 Exploration Teams to consider three other potential fields: Eastern Europe, Tanzania, and Cambodia. This second trip to Eastern Europe is leaving tomorrow and taking place between June 7-22! The team of five adults and two children will include EFM Missionary Candidates Fred and Jonelle Liddell,along with their two children, Alex and Jael, Vivian Titus (EFC-MAYM), Jon Fodge (NWYM), and Patrick Neifert (RMYM). Trip leader Jonelle Liddell shared these insights into this upcoming second trip.

We plan to visit Čapljina (Bosnia and Herzegovina or BiH) on June 9, Mostar (BiH) on June 11, Dubrovnik (Croatia) on June 14 and are keeping the rest of the days flexible on where we go. However, we have a list of cities/towns that we will probably visit. We are sleeping in Čapljina from June 8-13 and in Trebinje (BiH) from June 13-21, with our last night spent in Sarajevo (BiH).

On this second trip we plan to meet with several local pastors and missionaries to discuss opportunities, needs, strategies, and potential difficulties in this region. We plan to focus on the regions of southern Croatia, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Our ultimate purpose is to discern clearly if God is calling EFM to join in his work in this region, and if so what are the next steps.

The following are ways that you can pray for this team while they are in Eastern Europe:

Pray for unity and clarity as we fellowship and discern together.
Pray for our time with local workers, that we would be an encouragement to them, and that we would learn from them all that God has for us.
Pray for the people we will interact with, that we will be effective witnesses and humble learners. That if this is where EFM should work, God will bring a person or persons of peace to give a clear invitation.
Pray that the kids will travel well, and that God will use them to open doors with people we meet.

Pray for the Second Luke 10 Exploration Trip to Dubai and Doha

We are now sending the second wave of exploration trips to potential new mission fields to discern where EFM and partner regions/yearly meetings will make decisions for launching new fields, based on EFM’s CAN GO Criteria. The next National EFM Luke 10 Think Tank convenes in November 2023 with plans to identify which fields EFM will make commitments towards launching. Ten teams have now explored ten different country/people group destinations on a first Luke 10 Exploration Trip. See more information aquí.

This next trip to Dubai and Doha is leaving today and taking place between October 19-31! The team of six people will include Rusty Savage (EFC-ER Director of Multiplication), Norbu Tamang (EFC-ER), DB Tamang (EFC- MAYM), Zach Bohler (EFC-ER), Amen Thapa (EFC-Nepal), and Prakash Thing (EFC-Nepal).

Trip leader Rusty Savage provided these insights into this upcoming second trip to Dubai, UAE and Doha, Qatar.

The team will spend six days in Dubai, UAE followed by six days in Doha, Qatar. In both places, we will be spending time amidst the large population of migrant workers who make up the overwhelming majority of the workforce in those cities.

Our team will be following up on contacts that were made on our first trip last year. Hundreds of thousands of Nepali-speaking men and women now live in the Persian Gulf. We will be spending time with this community, listening to their stories, and assessing opportunities for sending missionaries to this region from EFM, EFC-Nepal, or perhaps in partnership with one another.

The following are ways that you can pray for this team while they are in Dubai and Doha.

Pray for unique opportunities for fellowship with Nepali-speaking workers whose work schedule provides very little time for visitation.
Pray for the members of our team from Bhutan and Nepal to have no difficulties gaining visa entry into UAE and Qatar.
Pray for wisdom for our multinational team as we discern what a possible partnership between EFM and EFC-Nepal could look like.
