Steps have already been taken by EFM over the last several years to launch a field among the under-reached tribe called the Shuar who live in the jungle of southeast Ecuador and northeast Peru. Much more help is needed to actually launch that field. Northwest Yearly Meeting(NWYM) is taking the lead on organizing exploratory trips to that area. Evangelical Friends Church-Eastern Region (EFC-ER) has also expressed interest in this opportunity.

Ecuador was recently approved by the EFM board as one of the new mission fields that EFM is committed to launching as a part of the Luke 10 Initiative and Five- Year Goal. You can read about the 2023 Exploration Trip aquí and the 2022 Exploration Trip aquí. In 2024, a 10:2 Prayer trip took place and you can read that report aquí.

EFM is looking for passionate families and individuals who feel called to serve as missionaries in diverse cultural settings. If you are interested in learning more about serving in Ecuador, visit aquí.
