Estimado Amigo,

Estamos muy agradecidos por sus oraciones, amor y apoyo durante el 2021. Gracias a su apoyo, mi esposo y yo fuimos animados y motivados para continuar sirviendo al Señor, siendo obedientes a las tareas significativas en las que ÉL nos llamó a trabajar para su reino durante este año que ahora está terminando.

En resumen, lo que Dios, por su gracia, nos permitió lograr es lo siguiente: ¡Por favor, regocíjense y alabemos juntos al Señor!

Movilizador de Misiones para Amigos Hispanos

Dios nos permitió tener oportunidades de compartir sobre misiones globales y sobre EFM en varias ocasiones, incluyendo talleres y predicaciones en eventos como AMANA, la Alianza de Amigos Hispanos de América del Norte, y con iglesias de Amigos en los Estados Unidos, México, Centro América y Sudamérica. En su mayoría, estos fueron a través de Zoom.

Mentoria a Plantadores de Iglesias

Actualmente estamos asesorando a cuatro familias de pastores y nuevos plantadores de iglesias en México mediante una reunión de zoom mensual, y este año hicimos un par de visitas en persona para animarlos y orar por ellos. Damos gracias y alabamos al Señor por estas familias tan dedicadas y fieles a su llamado. Estas familias trabajan duro y el fruto es evidente. ¡Gloria a Dios!

Visión México 32

Agradecemos a Dios por permitirnos seguir siendo parte del equipo para desarrollar el proyecto VM32, se trata de contribuir a alcanzar a México con el Evangelio plantando una Iglesia de los Amigos en todos los estados del país para el 2032. Como equipo hemos progresado. Este año fue posible enviar una familia al campo y una segunda está casi lista para ser enviada. Con estas dos familias tendremos presencia de Amigos en 14 estados de los 32. ¡Alabado sea el Señor!

EFM Siendo Bilingüe

Se han logrado grandes avances para hacer que EFM sea bilingüe a través de traducciones de inglés a español de cartas, notificaciones y periódicos de EFM. Más hermanos y hermanas de habla hispana están teniendo la oportunidad de conocer acerca de nuestros misioneros y acerca de la nueva meta de EFM. Nuevas personas pueden orar, dar y esperamos que muy pronto también se envíen Amigos Hispanos a los nuevos campos misioneros.

Viaje para Futuros Misioneros

Fue un placer y una hermosa experiencia haber podido liderar, junto con Matt Macy y Brad Carpenter, el viaje de 6 futuros misioneros a Aguascalientes, México en julio. Dos semanas muy bendecidas de aprendizaje cultural, experiencias tangibles y claridad al llamado de estos jóvenes. Estábamos muy conmovidos y animados por la fuerte con que se sienten llamados a ser misioneros en el futuro.

Oramos para que este viaje realmente haya impactado sus vidas y su futuro y un día no muy lejano los veamos servir en el campo donde Dios los enviará.

Iniciativa Lucas 10 y Viaje Lucas10

Estamos muy contentos de haber sido invitados a ser parte del equipo de la Iniciativa Lucas 10 para explorar Ecuador, como posible campo misionero, durante el Viaje Lucas 10. Tenemos reuniones mensuales de zoom con los líderes de la Junta Anual del Noroeste. El primer viaje de la Iniciativa Lucas 10 será a  Bolivia y Perú y se llevará a cabo del 3 al 20 de enero de 2022 y el viaje de exploración Lucas 10 está planeado para el verano.

 Nueva Congregación en North Las Vegas, NV

Estamos emocionados de sentir el mover de Dios en el comienzo de una nueva congregación. Durante este año, el enfoque fue llegar a las personas que se han alejado de su relación con Jesús o personas que no asistían a una iglesia durante mucho tiempo. Se están llevando a cabo entrenamientos y discipulado para sentar las bases de este nuevo trabajo.

Thanks to your partnership my husband and I were encouraged and motivated to continue serving the Lord and being obedient to the meaningful tasks that he called us to work on for his kingdom during this year that is now ending.

Mission Mobilizer for Hispanic Friends

God allowed us to have opportunities to share about global missions and about EFM on various occasions including giving workshops and preaching at events such as AMANA-the Hispanic Friends Alliance of North America and with Friends churches in the United States, Mexico, Central America and South America. These were mostly through Zoom.

Coaching Church Planters

We are currently mentoring four families of pastors and new church planters in Mexico. We give thanks and praise the Lord for these families so dedicated and faithful to their call. These families work hard, and the fruit is evident. Glory to God!

Vision Mexico 32

We are grateful to God for allowing us to continue to be part of the team to develop the VM32 project, which is focused on reaching Mexico with the gospel by planting a Friends Church in every state of the country by 2032. As a team we have made progress. This year we were able to send a family to the field and a second is almost ready to go. With these two families we will have a presence of Friends in 14 states out of the 32. Praise the Lord!

EFM Being Bilingual

Great strides have been made in making EFM bilingual through English to Spanish translations of EFM letters, updates, and emails. More Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters are having the opportunity to know about our missionaries, and about the new EFM goal. New people get to pray, give, and we hope that very soon there are Hispanic Friends also being sent to the new missionary fields.

Future Missionary Trip

It was a pleasure and a beautiful experience to have been able to lead, together with Matt Macy and Brad Carpenter, the trip for six future missionaries to Aguascalientes, Mexico in July. Two blessed weeks of culture learning, tangible experiences, and clarity to the call of these young people. We were very moved and encouraged by how strongly they feel called to be missionaries in the future.

We pray that this trip has really impacted their lives and their future and one day not too far away we will see them serve in the field where God will send them.

Luke 10 Initiative and Luke 10 Trip

We are very happy to have been invited to be part of the Luke 10 Initiative team to explore Ecuador during the Luke 10 Trip. We are having zoom monthly meetings with leaders from the Northwest Yearly Meeting. The first Luke 10 Initiative trip is to Bolivia and Peru and will take place from January 3 -20, 2022 and the Luke 10 exploration trip is being planned to happen in June.

New Congregation in North Las Vegas, NV

We are excited to feel the move of God in the beginning of a new congregation. During this year the focus was reaching people who have fallen away from their relationship with Jesus or people that were not attending a church for a long time. Discipleship and trainings are taking place to lay the foundations for this new work.

Amada Familia Amigos,

Estoy muy emocionada de escribirles mi primera carta de noticias bajo este nuevo ministerio como Movilizadora de Misiones. De ante mano, gracias por el valioso tiempo que ustedes van a dedicar al leer lo que Dios me permite ahora compartirles.

En primer lugar, mi familia y yo estamos muy agradecidos por haber finalizado una etapa ministerial en México que duró 12 años. Durante esta hermosa etapa pudimos presenciar la mano de nuestro poderoso Dios transformando vidas, restaurando matrimonios, desarrollando liderazgo, así como nuevos ministerios que dieron inicio. Todo esto en un suelo muy duro y difícil de sembrar la semilla del Evangelio, que ha sido el centro de México. ¡Toda la gloria y honor para Él!

Hoy día, me siento muy afortunada de poder continuar sirviendo al Señor Jesucristo con Evangelical Friends Mission como Movilizadora de Misiones para los Amigos Hispanos. Este ministerio de medio tiempo ha sido creado para ayudar a nuestros hermanos y hermanas hispanos en los Estados Unidos y América Latina a aumentar su involucramiento en llevar a cabo la Gran Comisión de Jesucristo en todo el mundo y en conjunto me sigue permitiendo seguir formando parte de la obra en México, mientras creo una red de contactos de pastores y lideres de la Comunidad Amigos Hispanos.

Sobre los Miembros de mi Familia,

• Mi esposo Edwin Girón está tomando un tiempo sabático del ministerio y estamos buscando la dirección y claridad de Dios para nuestra próxima etapa de ministerio a largo plazo juntos (el encierro de la pandemia sirvió para que él pudiese quedarse quieto). Él me estará apoyando en la tarea de la movilización misionera en algunas áreas y actualmente estamos juntos proveyendo sesiones de mentoreo a cuatro familias que están plantando iglesias o iniciando nuevos ministerios, incluyendo los pastores de Aguascalientes. También estaremos entrenando a los nuevos candidatos que dirán: “Heme aquí Señor, envíame”.
• Nuestro hijo Edwin Isaac cumple 17 años este próximo mes de Junio. El acaba de obtener su licencia de manejo y en el otoño estará asistiendo a su último año de preparatoria y comenzara los arreglos para ir a la universidad. (Que Increíble es para mí, como madre, darme cuenta de cuanto mi hijo ha crecido). Él tiene un deseo muy fuerte de servir al Señor involucrándose con los jóvenes y siendo líder de Alabanza.
• Nuestra hija Faviola, ahora de 26 años, sigue soltera y trabaja como Asistente Legal en una oficina de Abogados en Las Vegas. Damos gracias a Dios de ver como se desempeña en lo que hace y como Dios la bendice.

Junta Anual de México y Proyecto “Visión México 32”

En el mes de febrero, la Junta Anual de los Amigos de México tuvo su reunión anual en Ciudad Juárez y tuvimos el privilegio de asistir a este maravilloso evento. Durante cuatro días, pastores, líderes y representantes de 11 iglesias se reunieron para alabar al Señor compartiendo sus victorias y desafíos. Allí, fue lanzado el reto de una nueva visión llamada “Visión México 32”. Se trata de desafiar a las iglesias de la Junta Anual a unirse para crear un movimiento que inicie nuevos ministerios Amigos y proclamar mas de JESUS en cada uno de los estados de México donde no existe aún una Iglesia Amigos y así cubrir los 32 Estados en un periodo de diez años. Esto podría lograrse enviando de dos a tres parejas de siervos al año. Había tanto entusiasmo que de allí salieron tres candidatos dispuestos y listos para ser enviados a un nuevo campo. ¡Alabado sea el Señor! Podemos ver la respuesta de muchos años de oración, por un movimiento de plantación de iglesias en México.

Zacatecas

Por cinco años nuestra familia visitó un pequeño pueblo (de aproximadamente 3,000 personas) en el Estado de Zacatecas predicando el evangelio a familias y llevando acaba eventos evangelisticos. Durante todo este tiempo de picar piedra en esta tierra tan difícil, solo logramos ver a dos personas convertidas a Cristo. Estas dos personas fueron discipuladas y una de ellas fue becada para tomar capacitación en el Instituto Bíblico de los Amigos. Estos dos discípulos regresaron a su pueblo y ellos ahora enseñan la Palabra de Dios a sus familiares y vecinos. Recientemente recibimos un reporte de que 12 personas reconocieron y recibieron a Jesucristo como su único Salvador personal. ¡Gloria a Dios¡ nos maravillamos de saber que hay mas cosecha de los años que se ha estado sembrando la semilla del Evangelio en este rincón del mundo.

Aguascalientes

La iglesia Amigos en Aguascalientes sigue adelante evangelizando y discipulado nuevos creyentes. La extensión del Instituto Bíblico ha sido una gran herramienta para capacitar lideres y lanzarlos a servir. Jaime y Lupita León salieron de la iglesia de Aguascalientes y ahora están sirviendo como pastores en Sinaloa. Carla es otra estudiante que está evangelizando en su pueblo y gente se está convierto a Cristo a través de los estudios bíblicos en casas. Los pastores actuales en Aguascalientes son Israel y Daira De La Torre. Israel actualmente es bi- vocacional, trabajando en un hospital y sirviendo al Señor al mismo tiempo. El encierro por el COVID 19, llevó al pastor Israel a aprovechar la oportunidad para transmitir mensajes bíblicos en vivo a través de las redes sociales, teniendo así un alcance más amplio a otras personas. ¡Alabado sea Dios!

Sinaloa

En Siete Ejidos, Jaime y Lupita León están llevando acabo un excelente trabajo como pastores de la Iglesia Amigos. La congregación a crecido en número, los congregantes se ven madurando en fe y en compromiso, y el pueblo completo reconoce a Jaime y Lupita como una pareja de pastores de buen testimonio a quienes pueden acudir para pedir oración o por algún consejo. ¡Gloria a Dios!. Los León han sido testigos de vidas transformadas, como por ejemplo, el caso de un hombre que estuvo involucrado en carteles, y que ahora es libre en Cristo. Este hombre ahora es un fiel congregante a la iglesia junto con su esposa y sus hijos, y están siendo discipulados por Jaime y Lupita.

ITA

Estamos muy agradecidos por el valioso recurso del Instituto Bíblico Amigos, el cual cuenta con el Campus en la Ciudad de México, su extensión en Aguascalientes y plataformas virtuales en donde hay alumnos desde Mexicali y Tijuana tomando clases. Actualmente, hay 15 estudiantes preparándose para servir como pastores, maestros o lideres. Antonio y Leticia de Chávez es un matrimonio que actualmente está tomando capacitación para salir a plantar una nueva iglesia. Ellos están orando y explorando opciones para tener claridad de a donde Dios los va a enviar. Ellos desean estar saliendo al campo en un año como parte del proyecto VM32.

Updates About My Family

• My husband is taking a sabbatical time from ministry and we are seeking in prayer God’s direction and clarity for our next stage of a long-term ministry together (the closure due to the pandemic served to keep him still these couple of moths). Edwin will be supporting me with the missionary mobilization task in some areas and currently, together, we are providing coaching sessions to four families who are planting churches or starting new ministries, including the pastors of Aguascalientes. We will also be training and guiding new candidates who will say, “Here I am, Lord, send me.”
• Our son, Edwin Isaac, turns 17 this June. He just got his driver’s license and in the fall he will be attending his senior year in High School and will begin arranging for college! (How incredible it is for me, as a mother, to realize how much my son has grown). Edwin Isaac has a strong desire to serve the Lord by engaging with youth and being the leader of worship.
• Our daughter, Faviola, is now 26, still single and works as a Legal Assistant in at a Attorney’s office in Las Vegas. We thank God for seeing how she performs and she is so good in what she does and how God blesses her.

About Mexico Yearly Meeting and Project “Vision Mexico 32”

In February, the Friends of Mexico Yearly Meeting had their annual reunion in Ciudad Juarez and we had the privilege of attending this wonderful event. For four days, pastors, leaders, and representatives of 11 churches gather together to praise the Lord by sharing their victories and challenges. There, a new vision was launched called “Vision Mexico 32 or VM32.” It’s about challenging the churches of the Mexico Yearly Meeting to join together to create a movement initiating new Friends ministries and to proclaim more of JESUS in each one of the states of Mexico where no Friends churches exist yet and to have covered the 32 States in about ten years. This could be achieved by sending two to three units of workers a year. There was so much enthusiasm that from it came three couple candidates willing and ready to be cast out to a new field this year. Praise God! We can see the answer of the many years of praying, for a church planting movement in Mexico, being answered.

ZACATECAS

For five years our family visited a small town (population is about 3,000) in the State of Zacatecas, preaching the Gospel to families and doing evangelism events. During all this time of chipping stone in this difficult land, we were only able to see two people converted to Christ. These two people were discipled and one of them received a scholarship to attend the Friends Bible Institute. These two disciples returned to their people and they are now the ones teaching and the Preach the Word of God to their relatives and neighbors. We recently received a report that 12 more people recognized and received Jesus Christ as their only personal Savior. Praise the Lord! We are marveled to know that there is more harvest after all the years that the seed of the Gospel has been sown in that end part of the world.

AGUASCALIENTES

The Friends Church in Aguascalientes continues evangelizing and making new disciples of Christ. The extension of the Biblical Institute has been a great tool to train leaders and launch them to serve. For example, Jaime and Lupita León left the Aguascalientes church and are now serving as pastors in Sinaloa. Carla is another student who is evangelizing her people and people are converting to Christ through home Bible studies. The current pastors in Aguascalientes are Israel and Daira De La Torre. Israel is currently a bi-vocational person, working at a hospital and serving the Lord at the same time! Taking advantage of the social isolation brought by COVID 19, Israel has taken the opportunity to transmit live Biblical messages on social networks, thus having a broader reach to other people. Praise the Lord!

SINALOA

In Siete Ejidos, Jaime and Lupita León are carrying out an excellent job as pastors of the Iglesia Amigos. The congregation has grown in number, the congregants are maturing in faith and commitment, and the entire town recognizes Jaime and Lupita as a couple of pastors of good testimony to whom they can go to ask for prayer or for advice. Praise the Lord!. The Leon have witnessed transformed lives, such as the case of a man who was involved in drug cartels, and who is now free in Christ. This man is now a faithful congregant to the church along with his wife and children, and they are being discipled by Jaime and Lupita.

ITA

We are very grateful for the valuable resource that it is the Bible Friends Institute, which counts with a Campus in Mexico City, its extension in Aguascalientes, and virtual platforms where there are currently students from Sinaloa, Mexicali and Tijuana taking classes. These students are being trained to serve as pastors, teachers, or leaders. Toño and Lety, is a couple that are currently taking training to go out and plant a new church. They are praying and exploring options and seeking clarity on where God is going to send them. They want to be out in the field in a year as part of Vision Mexico 32 project.

• Please pray for more workers willing to leave their comfort zone and ready to be dispatched.

• For to the strategic plan that is being developed to carry out VM32.

In February, the Friends of Mexico Yearly Meeting had their annual reunion in Ciudad Juarez and we had the privilege of attending this wonderful event. For four days, pastors, leaders, and representatives of 11 churches gather together to praise the Lord by sharing their victories and challenges. This reunion seemed to have been one of the best so far with the most attendance and enthusiasm. Praise the Lord! We could see more maturity and growth of the Friends Churches in Mexico. There, we launched a new vision called “Vision Mexico 32.” It’s about challenging the churches of the Mexico Yearly Meeting to join together to create a movement initiating new Friends ministries in each one of the states of Mexico where no Friends churches exist yet and to have covered the 32 States in about ten years. Since attending the Mexico Yearly Meeting, we are seeking God about how to assist them in developing and pushing forward “Vision Mexico 32.” Edwin is supporting me with the mission-mobilizing task.  We continue having coaching sessions with Lupita and Jaime Leon serving in Sinaloa, as well as with the pastors in Aguascalientes, and also will be coaching the new candidates that are saying, “Here I am Lord, send me.”

Comenzando en la ciudad de Sibiu, ministramos a niñas huérfanas y abandonadas, y algunas de ellas se convirtieron a Cristo y parte de nuestra familia.  Aunque ya no son niñas, continúan trayendo una chispa especial a nuestros días festivos.

Dios amplió nuestra visión para enseñar a los niños en la escuela pública.  A través de las clases de inglés y carpintería conocimos a algunos niños maravillosos, ganamos el favor de sus padres y pronto comenzamos a hacer campamentos cristianos.  A estos les siguieron reuniones juveniles semanales, y con los años muchos confesaron a Jesús como Salvador. Continuamos trabajando en los pueblos de Orlat y Gura Raului.

En la tienda de bellotas, Voicu enseña carpintería a niños de secundaria. Más que trabajar la mdera, aprenden a convertirse en hombres de verdad, según la Biblia. Como lo hemos hecho muchas veces en el pasado, este año para el Día de Acción de Gracias invitamos a los estudiantes a una comida y celebración especial.  La cuenta de historia estadounidense se utilizó como plataforma para una mejor lección: La Gratitud como Forma de Vida. Y esta temporada navideña leímos sobre el nacimiento de Jesús con varios de nuestros estudiantes y cantamos: “¡Oh, Venir y Adoremos!”

Hemos sido testigos de grandes cambios, especialmente desde que Rumania se convirtió en parte de la UE en 2007. Con las fronteras abiertas y el acceso digital ilimitado, en la inundación de “la buena vida”, y con ella, mucho mal. Habiendo llegado a conocer a estos niños, hemos llegado a amarlos profundamente. Sus historias de vida se han convertido en parte de la nuestra, y es bastante doloroso ver que algunos endurecen sus corazones cuando se convierten en adultos. El Señor nos recuerda que nuestro propósito aquí no es cambiar a las personas, sino vivir para Él. “Jesucristo es el mismo ayer, hoy y siempre”. (Heb.13: 8) ¡Él permanece fiel y merece toda la gloria!

Por favor orar por…

• Que sigamos proclamando el Evangelio y amando a las personas como al Señor.
• Para que la Palabra sembrada a través de los años de fruto, y que Dios llame a más trabajadores a la cosecha (ahora y después de nuestra jubilación).
• Sabiduría mientras planificamos actividades semanales, para que Dios nos guíe en el futuro, en los ministerios de primavera y verano.

For some time, Edwin and Maria have been sensing that it would be good for the church in Aguascalientes not to have a constant missionary presence so that it can continue to develop under the leadership that has been raised up. When an opportunity arose in Yorba Linda, California, to join the pastoral staff of the Hispanic congregation called “Amigos” (Friends), they felt led to accept the invitation. Their first “official” Sunday is August 4, 2019, and they are already getting settled in the Yorba Linda area. But in taking this step they are not leaving missions behind. Their vision is to mobilize Hispanic Friends for carrying out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ; Friends in Yorba Linda, Mexcio, the United States, and Latin America. They are currently exploring ways to do that in partnership with EFM.

Their current relationship with EFM as full-time missionaries came to an end on July 31 of this year. EFM is encouraging the Giron’s supporters to continue their giving through November of this year so that we can provide the Girons with a “love gift” which will help them cover the costs of getting settled in the United States. Those of us who have served as missionaries know how expensive it is to settle in the U.S. and the extra financial help is deeply appreciated. Furthermore, ongoing giving until November helps to cover the ministry expenses in Aguascalientes that EFM committed to for 2019.

Please stay tuned for further news on how EFM and the Girons might partner together to mobilize Hispanic Friends for missions. We should know no later than November of this year what that partnership will look like. It is very likely that the partnership will require some level of financial support, and many of you may want to be a part of that. Please pray for the Lord’s guidance in the conversations that are happening.

Finally, here is a note from Edwin and Maria for you: Our hearts are immensely grateful. We praise the Lord for the experiences we have lived all these years of ministry in Mexico. We are thankful to have been able to witness the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives, grateful for the extreme and integral care we received from our beloved EFM family, and grateful to each of you our dear partners for lifting us up constantly with your precious prayers and support so that we could carry out the tasks and overcome all the challenges of ministry in Mexico during these 11 years. We are deeply grateful that God is allowing us to complete this chapter of our life and our ministry with much grace, blessings, and peace.

We are looking forward to seeing the ways in which God will allow us in the near future to remain connected with missions through EFM. We pray that God continues to bless the generous heart of each one of you.
