A 10:2 Prayer Trip is an annual trip to the mission fields where EFM has committed to sending missionaries. Teams are asked to pray for the soil (Matthew 13:1-23) and pray for the workers (Luke 10:2). Teams are sent or guided by sponsoring regions/yearly meetings of the new EFM fields that have been leading exploration. 10:2 Prayer Trips will target appropriate communities for prayer walking and interceding that “the Kingdom come, and God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven” in those places.

In November 2025, a 10:2 Prayer Trip took place in the Dalmatia region of Croatia. There was an additional phase of the trip where part of the team stayed longer to accomplish pre-launch planning. The following is a report for the 10:2 Prayer Trip written by team member Jonelle Liddell.

Trip Highlights

On our first day together as a team, we visited the Croatian church in Vela Luka, Croatia. We were all encouraged by the open arms of the pastor and the congregation. This Croatian pastor and his wife are key potential ministry partners and mentors for our long term team, and is modeling love for others across ethnic lines, evangelism to neighboring communities/islands with no current evangelical presence, and active presence in your community for relationship building and witness.

This open armed welcome was repeated in our other interactions with existing contacts. We had a sense that previously there had been expressions of welcome with emotional reserve (which aligns with what we’ve been told about the culture in this region), and that this reserve had reduced or vanished. Now, we were just brothers and sisters.

We went on prayer walks in several villages, towns, and cities, and at different points most of us felt a sense of the either the Spirit speaking or impressing a message, or of spiritual resistance and oppression. This resistance was felt physically as several of us had significant health issues, unrelated to each other. God’s timing and provision was clearly seen, but the resistance was clear.

How You Can Pray…

We sensed that the hearts of many individuals are closed like shuttered windows. We prayed that God would remove the spiritual shutters and let His love and grace pour in, driving out sin’s darkness.

We thanked God for the faithful believers we met and prayed that God would bless their witness and bring many to Himself.

We prayed that spiritual stronghold would be removed and this whole country would be filled with the knowledge of the Lord.

In addition to joining in those prayers, please pray that the workers God is calling to this field would respond.

Greece is an entry point for refugees, with the hope of establishing themselves in other countries throughout Europe. As they are on the “go”, so is God pursuing their heart and lives. At this point, some refugees are returning to Greece after months or up to two years of trying to complete their immigration status in other European countries. If their immigration documents have been denied, they need to return to their entry point in Europe. This can be heartbreaking, for their dreams may be shattered but it also provides an opportunity to support them and strengthen their faith.

Church planting is possible in non-traditional ways: home churches, small groups with a mentor, and a church site. We need to keep in mind that our goal is to form communities of believers and make disciples who will go make other disciples.

Pray for a new team of EFM missionaries to begin a new EFM disciple-making effort with Muslim refugees in Greece.

The immigration laws and processes continue to change. Pray that people with knowledge in this area will continue to step up.

Pray for God’s grace and mercy for the refugees as they navigate complex documentation and financial hurdles.

Pray for the worldwide missionaries who serve in Greece as their hub, that they will continue to work in unity, led by the Holy Spirit. May they continue to experience divine moments.

Pray that national leaders will continue to develop and step up. Also pray that new believers will continue to take leadership roles with passion and grace.

Pray for freedom from oppression, and that refugees may be able to fully live a life in Christ.

The 2025 Luke 10 prayer trip to Ecuador took place from October 20th to 31st. The team was made up of Edwin and Maria Giron (EFM missions mobilizers); Jan Cammack (NWYM); Grace Anderson (EFM future missionary); Carl and Julie Anderson (NWYM); and Ana Ramirez (Guatemala YM).

Our purpose was threefold:

To pray for and encourage national leaders who are working with the Shuar people.

To explore logistics for future missionaries to do a 1-year internship in Ecuador.

To develop a relationship between EFM and AMEE, The Evangelical Missions Alliance of Ecuador

Our first two days were spent in Quito, Ecuador.

We were able to connect with pastor Ramiro Baez, leader of Bethel church and 2 Christian schools in the Quito area. We stayed at a guest house at one of the schools. Pastor Ramiro is a supporter of new ministries and welcomed us. He is well known and established and could be a valuable friend to help us navigate the relationship between government and evangelical ministries in Ecuador. He is also interested in possible future partnership with us.

We met with pastor Carlos Pinto, director of Corrientes Misioneras, a missionary training center (started by HCJB) for Latin Americans with offerings much like MTI programs. We were impressed with the mission and vision of this training program and can anticipate cooperation with them for our future missionaries and interns from the Americas.

We traveled to the Macas area of Ecuador.

Over several days we had good conversations with Pastor Dario Salazar who is a legal representative of AMEE. Pastor Dario directs the evangelical camp in Sucua called “Campamento Efrata” and is pastor of the local Church located inside the camp. The congregation of that church is composed of 60% Shuar and 40% mestizos. He and his wife, Alexandra, lead ministries in 3 different remote Shuar villages. We were able to visit and participate in 2 of the villages with them.

Pastor Dario, on behalf of AMEE, is willing to propose an agreement between AMEE and EFM. This agreement will include use of the camp as a base where Friends interns and missionaries can come to participate in the ministry of the camp as they learn language and culture. (The agreement may include Friends use of a house owned by the camp, however the house will need $5-10,000 worth of renovations).

Alexandra and Pastor Dario are available to be mentors for interns at the camp where they can participate in the camp ministries and outreach to the Shuar communities.

We were able to meet a couple, Diego and Jimena, who live at the Sucua camp. They are willing to be language tutors. Jimena teaches English at the local school.

Edwin was able to meet with Pastor Diego, of the Macas Baptist Church, to discuss visa issues for Jose Olivas. Pastor Diego was instrumental in helping the Badgleys get visas and is now helping Jose Olivas with his visa paperwork. If we run into obstacles with future visas through AMEE, Pastor Diego is willing to help us.

We were able to visit a Shuar church in San Jose, led by Korean missionaries. Ana and Edwin were able to preach there, and we had a time of prayer after the service for many of the church members. They fed us typical Shuar cuisine.

We attended Sunday service at the church located on the Sucua camp property. They included a celebration of the church’s anniversary and honored the pastors. Ana was able to sing a song for the celebration. Children from the Rescue Home, located next door to the camp, performed a typical Shuar dance. At the event meal we were able to meet the couple who run the children’s Rescue Home. (The wife is from Michigan. Should native English-speaking interns live in the offered camp house, this US woman would live just across the fence.)

In conclusion:

As a group, we are encouraged by the many good possibilities and partnerships available to us in Ecuador.

There are areas where fluent Spanish speakers can begin ministry immediately, just as Jose Olivas has already done in some areas. Tutors are available for Spanish speakers to learn the Shuar language.

There are options for Spanish language learners to come alongside current workers.

There is a great need in remote villages.

It was a blessing to have Pastor Ana Ramirez from Guatemala Friends with us. She jumped right into ministry and would fit perfectly into future ministry to the Shuar. She is relaying the needs of Ecuador to Friends churches in Guatemala, which will inspire support and possibly future missionaries from there as well.

It was a blessing to have Carl Anderson, past director of Tilikum Christian camp and current supervisor of building maintenance at George Fox University, to provide expertise in possible future projects in which we can participate at the camp.

In October, a 10:2 Prayer Trip took place in Dubai. The following is a report written by team member Matt Chesnes.

The team included: Stan Leach, Zach Bohler, Beth Sarrice, Norbu Tamang, Sam Chappidi, Matthew Chesnes.

Where did you travel?

Persian Gulf States – Technically, we went to Dubai but it is kept more general for location.

Trip Highlights

The Lord opened doors for us among Nepali congregations. These congregations invest a major portion of their budget on transportation. Since the Lord has placed ‘Business as Mission’ in our hearts and mind, there was an immediate understanding of how we can come alongside these churches to help. We would help them start a transportation business. There are multiple benefits to the individuals and to the church.

A partnership door that opened in January 2025, opened wider on this trip. We met with leaders from an evangelical church that has 120+ nations attending with over 6,000 in attendance. Approximately one thousand individuals leave this church every year. Many of them will return to their homeland. We want to come alongside this to equip men and women to plant disciple making communities when they return home. Our role would be to develop a strategy and curriculum to equip these individuals to accomplish that task.

Pray for open doors.

Pray for potential partnership with the local church. This is still in the works.

Our top priority is “who will go?”

Because of God’s faithfulness and the generosity of his people, they are preparing to launch to Croatia after the first of the year. This is a huge milestone, as they are the first household being sent to open a new field since the Five-Year Goal began.

But here’s where you come in.

The Liddell’s can’t do this alone. EFM is deeply committed to sending missionary teams to our new fields and is actively seeking individuals, couples, and families to join them in Croatia, a country with very few evangelical believers. We’re looking for people willing to live out their faith and share Christ’s love over time. Whether short-term or long-term, team members with backgrounds in business, healthcare, discipleship, counseling, camp ministry, and more can play a vital role.

If your heart is stirred, I encourage you to take the first step:

By November 2024 EFM had made a commitment to launch seven of the nine fields that were under exploration. Those seven fields are now moving on to the prayer and pre-launch planning phases. See more information here.

Dear Friends,

We’re excited to share a report from the recent Prayer Trip to the Sertão Region of Northeast Brazil. The following is a report written by team member Philip Burgi.

Who Was on This Trip & Where Did We Travel? A team of nine, representing six churches and three Yearly Meetings, traveled from the USA beginning July 14-24, 2025.

The group included: Jacob Stooke, Calen Brudos-Nockles, Ryan Barber, Phil Burgi, Christy Neifert, and Frank Penna from Rocky Mountain YM. Shawn Wilson and Sherry Schoening from Indiana YM. And, Jan Cammack from Northwest YM.

Stop 1 – Carpina (near Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil) Our potential partner, World Renewal Brazil’s ministry, is centered here. The group was hosted by Tele Moraes and spent a day visiting and praying with the staff at the International School and over the ABBA Youth Camp near Carpina.

Stop 2 – Sousa, Paraíba, Brazil We were hosted by Pastor Flavio Travassos. We prayed for:

the Cigano (Gypsy) community and a future church site near the Christian leader Bozzano’s home

Pastor Flavio and his family

their children’s ministry located north of Sousa

Stop 3 – Mirandiba, Pernambuco, Brazil We prayed and ministered over three days, meeting with local pastor Joel Candido and participating in the first Missions Conference held in the Sertão, organized by Joel.

We also had wonderful prayer opportunities during these days. Our team split into smaller groups and prayed as we walked the streets of Mirandiba and nearby communities. We experienced a number of “divine appointments” – praying in homes, open fields, and on the streets.

Return Journey – Caruaru, Pernambuco On the way back to Carpina, we stopped in Caruaru to visit with Pastor Cesario, who, with his wife and son, is starting a new work supported by World Renewal Brazil.

We prayed with Pastor Cesario for:

the community

their new kids’ ministry (already reaching about 40 students)

more workers to come alongside them

A Trip Highlight

However, the group’s sense of unity over the “call” to the Sertão seemed the most significant. The physical and spiritual needs are so evident, the people are so welcoming, and the few Christians we encountered in ministry are also praying for workers in this needy field.

Although a difficult place to live and minister, we affirm the sense of those on previous trips that the Mirandiba area of the Sertão would be an excellent place to center an Evangelical Friends Mission ministry in Brazil.

We also felt the area around Caruaru, on the edge of the Sertão, had possibilities as a ministry center. It is much closer to ministry resources near Carpina, as well as more adaptable for families with children.

Thank you for your prayers and support. We believe God is stirring hearts for the people of the Sertão, and we invite you to continue praying with us for His work in Northeast Brazil. Those seven fields are now moving on to the prayer and pre-launch planning phases. See more information here.

The next 10:2 Prayer Trip is taking place in Northeast Brazil from July 14 to 23. The team is comprised of members from three yearly meetings (RMYM, IYM, and NWYM) and includes Christy Neifert, Phil Burgi, Jacob Stooke, Ryan Barber, Calen Nockels, Shawn Wilson, Jan Cammack, and Sherry Schoening.

The Sertão region of Northeast Brazil is one of the driest and most underserved areas in the country, both physically and spritually. With scarce access to clean water, limited sanitation, and some of the lowest life expectancy rates in Brazil, the people there live in harsh conditions. Despite these challenges, communities like the Quilombola, Atikum tribal people, and the Cigano are open and receptive to the gospel and are asking, “When can you come?” EFM and RMYM are seeking followers of Jesus to join the great adventure of sharing the love of Christ and bringing hope to these unreached and underresourced communities.

The team is going to the field to pray for God’s purposes to be accomplished in the country, in the hearts of the partners in Brazil, and amongst the people they will interact with.

Here are some ways you can be praying for this trip!

Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will prepare the hearts of people in the Sertão region of Brazil to receive the gospel: Quilombola, Atikum tribal people, and Cigano (Gypsy).

Pray for the team that everyone will have safe travels and stay healthy.

Pray for additional missionary units to serve in the Sertão of Northeast Brazil. We hear a definite plea from “people of peace” in the Sertão and from the few ministry workers in the area “please come and help.” We pray for the Lord of the Harvest to call Christian couples, families, and singles into his harvest field in Northeast Brazil.

The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to cast out more workers into his fields.

Clinicians create access to deeper conversations about faith and hope. EFM is committed to holistic ministry, which includes spiritual, mental, emotional, economic, and social well-being. In several fields, ethnic divides have created additional trauma.

Community builders have the opportunity to work alongside local community leaders to see sustainable, whole-life transformation. Social workers bring perspective and discerning practices that help communities address systemic issues. Counselors offer critical mental healthcare that may be unavailable otherwise.

For all missionaries, the major task is building relationships. People in business have an instant and wide range of relationships and connections. People in business contribute to the community and are well-received. People in business gain access to visas, including those for closed countries.

EFM has committed to pioneering new fields in at least seven countries. In every case, people with entrepreneurial gifting are needed, and in some cases, starting a business is expected. From farm and land development to camp and retreat centers. From new medical clinics to professional training services. From consulting and guiding other missionaries in business to providing consultation to the marketplace.

Those seven fields are now moving on to the prayer and pre-launch planning phases. Meanwhile, we are currently still sending Luke 10 Exploration Teams to consider other potential fields, one of them being unreached people groups in Southeast Asia. You can learn more here.

In April, a 10:2 Prayer Trip took place in Greece. The following is a report written by team member Jim Le Shana.

Who Was on this Trip & What Were the Takeaways?

The team included three from FSW (Lisa Dirrim, Tyler, and Tracie Leman) and five from NWYM (Robert Garon, Jim Le Shana, Jennifer Morin, Josiah, and Leisa Muhr).

This proved to be a great prayer team trip. Very full days. Timely meetings. Lots of prayer. Good mix of new people and veterans on the team. Some new experiences, too, showed some potential opportunities going forward. The trip also confirmed for two team members that they are ready for a significant “next step” (longer “short-term” experience in Greece) as they continue to explore God’s calling. Two key takeaways for the team: 1) the Lord is still at work in Greece among refugees, and 2) EFM made a good decision for Friends to embrace this as a new church planting mission field.

Remained Flexible: In the weeks before the trip, the Greece Prayer Team embraced the theme of staying “flexible” to whatever might happen and to whatever the Lord may want to do (not an uncommon awareness for short-term teams). It turned out that our mascot of “Gumby” was apropos from beginning to end, as Kenn Dirrim was unable to travel due to some health issues, weather prompted some to leave abruptly a day early (with only three-hours warning), and an airport strike forced everyone to reschedule their return flights (except for one person who already planned to stay a little longer). The Lord helped us at every turn. In Kenn’s absence, Lisa Dirrim filled the role of guide in various ways, helping us to make connections with a number of missionaries and locations, and Robert Garon stepped up as our team “chauffeur” for the entire time in-country.

Prayer: The purpose of this trip was to pray, listen, observe, and pray some more. In addition to praying for specific missionaries we met, refugees, and the needs we observed in various locations, we typically also prayed for workers for the harvest field (Luke 10:2, Matt 9:35-38) and for the Lord to build his Church there (Matt 16:18). Three especially meaningful places where we were able to pray included: the Helping Hands facility that first introduced many of us to refugee ministries (where the Dirrims served previously, but which has undergone many changes), outside a refugee camp in Corinth in the middle of the city, and in a creative new facility run by Christians outside the refugee camp in Malakasa (north of Athens). We considered ourselves a kind of preparatory team, helping to lay a prayer foundation for those who will come after us.

Meetings and Conversations: Lisa helped to organize a total of eight key appointments for us with various missionaries. Altogether, we met with 18 missionaries/refugee believers from 8 countries (Greece, the US, Finland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Afghanistan, and Iran), all living/ministering in Greece, serving refugees. Each of these individuals, both active missionaries and refugee believers, fits in the category of “people of peace” for us, continuing to encourage and invite us to come. These meetings and times of prayer kept us quite busy, but it was a joy to be able to engage deeply and pray with so many in such a brief time. Since most refugees are still primarily in camps, we did not have as much direct contact with them as we sometimes did. However, at one location, we met with some refugees in a missional/relationship-building context (Malakasa), and the conversations with the refugee believers were rich and inspiring. In addition to these meetings, we took a little extra time to visit briefly the biblical sites of Athens, Corinth, and Cenchrea, often being reminded of Paul’s missionary efforts in that region.

Trip Highlights

We asked the team to mention highlights of the Prayer Team trip for them. Below is a summary of some of the comments.

Praying Outside the Refugee Camp in Corinth. Several of us commented about the impact of praying outside the Corinth refugee camp. As we circled together in prayer outside the gate, we could hear children laughing and just being kids in the playground over the wall. It provided a stark reminder that these are real people, with real children, and real needs for the gospel, just like us. Not only are there needs near Athens, but throughout the country as well. Josiah wrote that the experience at this camp in Corinth “left a lasting impact.” It reminded him and all of us that “there are refugee camps all over Greece that are often forgotten or overlooked,” and “how much opportunity there still is in Greece and how much need there is for more workers.” Each person prayed around the circle, and just as we said the final “Amen,” two guards reached us and kicked us off the property. It felt as though the Lord preserved us there for those moments.

Praying and Serving in the “Refuge in the Pines” near the Refugee Camp at Malakasa. We were able to attend and help at the second opening day of this converted restaurant (the “Refuge”) near the Malakasa camp. The female team members participated in making crafts and relationship building with several Syrian refugees who chose to attend. Leisa commented that, “Speaking to several young girls from Syria we learned about how they got there, where they were from and where they wanted to go. We laughed at silly drawings, language barriers, and how terrible I am at making bracelets. These young women showed passion and determination.” Tracie wrote, “We played games, made bracelets, and shared time together.” She added that she was “especially touched when two of the girls made bracelets for me and my two daughters back home,” which she hoped would “plant seeds for their own hearts for missions.”

Hearing Testimonies by Refugee Believers. As we met with some former Islamic refugees who are now believers and heard their stories, it served as a fresh reminder that God is working in the lives and hearts of refugees. Missio Dei is real (this is God’s mission). For me personally, even though I had been blessed by these stories before, I felt as though I heard some new parts that underscored God’s persistent love even more for his lost sheep. Especially hearing Sahar’s story again (and that of her mom for the first time), these stories served as a reminder that there are other “Sahars” that are out there waiting to be reached by the love of Christ!

What did We Pray for? How Can You Continue Praying?

Workers for the Harvest Field. The fields are ripe for harvest, and we praise the Lord for those refugees who are coming to know the Lord. However, many more workers are needed to serve in a wide variety of ways, including evangelism, discipleship, relationship building, business as mission development (literally helping to create jobs), and creative collaborative church planting. Demonstrating the love of God through kindness, spending time, relief efforts (food, clothing, etc.) and more are all important and vital, missional bridge-building tasks. Specifically, please pray also for one couple who are ready to commit to the “next steps” in this process, but also pray for the Lord to raise up a harvester (church planter) “from the harvest field” (a refugee), and for two other missionary units to be raised up as team members.

Continued good, cooperative efforts among the Christian missionaries in Greece. We know that Kenn and Lisa Dirrim helped to create a positive and collaborative environment among believers and missionaries in Greece. Please pray for this spirit to continue, and for Greek national churches to see more and more ways to partner with what the Lord is doing near where they live. We believe that good relationships among all these missionaries and believers will provide a positive environment as we send our first missionaries there to be “partners in the gospel” (some of whom may be excellent initial mentors us).

For the Lord to build His Church in Greece among Refugees. This was part of our constant prayer. We know that God is reaching refugees. We see Him working through the stories and testimonies we heard. But there is a need for churches of all kinds to be started among them, both ones that stay in Greece and those that are started and then replanted in other countries or locations. Robert suggested that we may need to “redefine what ‘church’ looks like.” It “may not always look like a building or a traditional church,” he wrote, “but it will always bear His fruit because God germinates the growth.” Please join us in prayer that God will build His Church, and that we would be wise, timely, and relevant in the way that we join Him in what He is doing!
