God continues to show His faithfulness in so many ways as I prepare for this next chapter! This season has held both challenges and blessings, and I can see His hand gently guiding me through each one.

Change has been a major theme in my heart. My life will shift significantly when I move to Southern California, and these past few months have been filled with packing, planning, praying, and intentionally spending time with people I deeply love.

I am continuing to work as a Home Health nurse (LPN) through November as I help my patients transition—many of whom have become dear friends. Saying goodbye to them will be difficult, but I’m grateful for the time we’ve had.

I’ve also continued serving with Hope Has No Borders, whose mission is to “provide humanitarian relief and community support to individuals as they transition from crisis to HOPE.” This group of strong, justice-seeking women has been such an inspiration to me. Recently, we’ve been focusing on helping with legal documents on Tuesday evenings, and on November 25th I will be teaching another CPR/First Aid class in Spanish!

The One Body class at Denver Friends Church continues to be one of the greatest blessings in my week. We are a bilingual class with a steady 15–20 people, and the Holy Spirit is clearly moving among us. We learn from one another, share deeply, and celebrate how God is transforming lives. Most Sundays, we end up spending the entire day together! We support one another through birthdays, hardships, housing needs, car repairs, meals, and prayer. Please continue praying for this unique and beautiful community—that they would grow in unity, empowerment, and a deepening relationship with Jesus.

I also had the privilege of attending two community gatherings with Seeds of Exchange, a collective of everyday people using their stories and gifts to make a global and local impact. It has been life-giving to participate, even briefly. I also reconnected with a long-time friend, Shamso, a refugee from Somalia who has survived incredible hardship and now advocates powerfully for others. She wrote The Jungle Didn’t Kill Me, and I’m excited to see the connection forming between her and this group!

Community & Celebration

I’m having a Friendsgiving Feast and Farewell Party to gather all the wonderful people I’ve grown to love during my time in Denver. If you are in Denver on November 29th, from 2–8 PM (eat at 5 PM), you are invited to join us! We’ll have games, laughter, good food, and a time of prayer to send me off.

I’m also continuing to fundraise through homemade desserts like quesillo (flan), choco flan, tres leches, cinnamon rolls, and cookies. I am currently 40% funded—praise the Lord! Please continue praying for God’s provision and creative opportunities to invite others into this journey. Would you also consider supporting me monthly as I follow God in this next season?

God is moving powerfully and reminding me again and again that He opens doors no one can shut. I am so thankful for each of you who continues to partner with me through prayer, encouragement, and support. You are a vital part of this story.

With deep gratitude and anticipation for all that God will do,
Cassi Coleman

Praises and Prayer Requests

Praises:

Danelle’s progress—mentally, physically, and her growing openness toward Jesus.

A steady and thriving One Body class community.

God continues to push me outside my comfort zone, stretching and growing me for what’s ahead.

Prayer Requests:

For my sister Danelle—she was removed from the sober living home for breaking rules and is now staying with me while planning to live in her car when I leave December 1st. Pray for her safety, wisdom, and a real connection with Jesus.

For my transition—as I prepare to leave a community I dearly love in Denver. Pray also for my new community with NCP, Lot 318, and Iglesia Amigos Fullerton.

For financial provision as I continue raising support toward my goal.

For travel mercies for Thomas as he visits me for Thanksgiving, then travels to South Sudan for a vision trip, and as we travel together for Christmas and New years.

Thank you for following my journey as I prepare for this next adventure! I will be leaving Denver on December first to start a tour of the country! First to Oregon to drop off my cats Bartleby and Burr to be cared for. Then to Kansas to spend time with family. Thomas will join me for Christmas with my family and then we will spend New Years with his family in Florida. After all that we will travel to California! Pray for travel mercies and opportunities to share along the way!

I have been packing up my house and preparing to move. Giving away a lot of things I love like plants to people I love like friends has given me an opportunity to start a “Ciao Tour.” Something I have been learning is the importance of visiting friends in their homes. This is especially important in the Latin culture. I would like to sincerely encourage everyone to adopt a little bit more of that practice in our lives. We need each other. We need community. We need to be loved by one another! So go visit your friends for coffee or dinner or just for a hug! Play a game! Share a plant!

I’m also just loving what the Holy Spirit is doing here at Denver Friends Church. We have started a Sunday School class called the One Body Class. We do not have a leader, but instead we make decisions together and we follow the scripture that is preached on Sunday and we have a facilitator to guide the class. I love how there is such a depth of knowledge with some, and there are others that are brand new to the Bible. I’ve had the privilege to watch a woman grow from being afraid to pray out loud to being the first to volunteer every single time. We are teaching each other about the Bible and the Holy Spirit is moving among us. Praise God!

We eat soup together monthly and a group of us hang out every Sunday! I have learned the importance of setting aside Sunday for the Lord through this community.

We also had the opportunity to go to family camp at Quaker Ridge Camp. We worked and played together!

God is deepening relationships through this! God is building his church through this! The Holy Spirit is building bridges here! People are opening their hearts and their lives to those who have left the families that they love to be able to try to survive and thrive. I’m deeply humbled to be able to know and have best friends in this community that I deeply love.

Once in California I will be living with a woman who started a ministry called Lot 318. She came into a neighborhood in Placentia, CA full of gangs with New York Cubano sass and the Holy Spirit surrounding her and the neighborhood has been transformed. Children now get the opportunity to decide to go to college instead of deciding which gang to join. I will be working and living alongside her to learn everything that I can! I will be helping with the homework club in the afternoons and participating in the activities of Lot 318 to the best of my ability! I will be able to bring in my talents as well and potentially have an English class or give first aid/CPR trainings.

More details to come as God continues to answer prayers and show the next steps little by little!

I’m inviting both financial and prayer partners to join me in this endeavor. Right now, I have 201 prayer partners with a goal to reach 250. Would you prayerfully consider coming alongside me through prayer, financial support, or both as I continue this ministry and journey? Your partnership truly makes a difference. You partner with me in both ways here. Thank you!

With gratitude and hope,
Cassandra Coleman

Praises and a few ways to pray for me:

PRAISE: For a financially fantastic housing situation and a work opportunity that fits like a puzzle with my ambitions and talents! Praise for the opportunity to learn from a woman full of the Holy Spirit!

PRAISE: Housing for my three sweet cats—Bartleby, Bellatrix, and Burr has been found! Bella has found her place in her celestial home on the rainbow bridge and I have found someone to take care of my two boys. It is bittersweet, but I was able to be with her to say goodbye. Praise the Lord for answers to prayers, even when they don’t come in the ways we would like them to. He always knows best and He is a kind father.

Pray for courage, clarity, and that my roots can grow even deeper with the Father and for my future as an overseas missionary. Pray for my deepening knowledge and understanding of the Bible.

Pray for my sister as she makes big decisions and continues rebuilding her stability. Big decisions need to be made very quickly and it’s very stressful for both of us. She has been sharing life with me in Denver for the last year, and this will be a major transition for both of us. Pray for her salvation.

Pray for a recent development of a relationship with Thomas Moore from Southwest Yearly Meeting. We’re walking in faith with Jesus, exploring a future together in life and ministry as cross-cultural missionaries, and praying about marriage and applying with EFM as a married couple.

Pray also for the finances of this endeavor. I would like to be fully funded to go in January and on top of that I’m asking for extra assistance with my car. I need a car in Southern California to do this ministry, but I also need to not have a car payment since I will not be working as a nurse. If the Lord is leading you to help financially with this, please contact me.

I’m writing to share some big news: I’ve been accepted as an apprentice to take part in an immersive discipleship training opportunity through Evangelical Friends Mission (EFM) in partnership with the North County Project (NCP) in Orange County, California.

Starting in January 2026, I’ll begin a 10-month apprenticeship created to equip young leaders like me to grow in sustainable, Spirit-led mission. My team will be walking with Jesus in local communities, learning how to begin conversations that could change someone’s life, and being trained in spiritual rhythms like prayer walking, contemplative practices, campus evangelism, and disciple-making that makes disciples who makes disciples!

Leaving Denver, especially my beautifully diverse and multicultural community, will be a deep loss. But I’m saying “yes” to this next step with trust and excitement—believing that Jesus meets us in surrender, and that He is still calling us to love people deeply and across boundaries.

To make this opportunity possible, I’m gathering a support team—people who will stand with me in both prayer and financial partnership, not just now, but for the future adventures and plans that God has for me this side of heaven! May He be glorified!

If you’d like to receive updates, prayer requests, or hear more about how this ministry is unfolding, I’d love to stay connected. Please sign up to be a prayer supporter and receive my updates.

Thank you for being part of my story—whether you’ve known me for years or we’ve only recently connected. Your encouragement and presence in my life matter more than I can say.

With gratitude and hope,
Cassandra Coleman

A few practical ways you could support me in prayer:

Pray for courage, clarity, and that my roots can grow even deeper with the Father and for my future as an overseas missionary.

Pray for my sister as she makes big decisions and continues rebuilding her stability. She has been sharing life with me in Denver for the last year, and this will be a major transition for both of us. Pray for her salvation.

Help with housing or care for my three sweet cats—Bartleby, Bellatrix, and Burr—They are loving, indoor-outdoor companions. Though it’s heartbreaking, I know that answering this call to missions means making some hard sacrifices, even ones that involve furry friends. They are currently still up for adoption!

Pray for a recent development of a relationship with Thomas Moore from Southwest Yearly Meeting. We’re walking in faith with Jesus, exploring a future together in life and ministry as cross-cultural missionaries, and praying about marriage and applying with EFM as a married couple.

Greetings!

Each year we prepare an annual report for the representatives of yearly meetings/regions that meet during the summer. We call it the “Summer Update” and you can click here to read and download this year’s.

We are sharing this report with you because of your interest in and support for the missionaries and ministries of EFM. We pray that it will not only help to keep you informed but that it will also be helpful to you in praying and giving.

As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we are setting a goal to raise $150,000 to provide pre-field training for the 10 households we plan to launch by the end of 2025. You can click the button below to start preparing the way for these missionaries! In the last six months of 2023 we will be ramping to celebrate what God has done these past 60 years and anticipate what he will do. Look out for more information coming soon to get involved.

Originally, I was not going to participate in the Gathering in person due to my battle with long COVID-19, but David (William)’s and Adrian (Halverstadt)’s love and encouragement during an EFC-I Zoom meeting convinced me otherwise. The flight from Hungary to Thailand was 30 hours there and 26 hours back. On the way back, I caught a cold. It made my work in the church over Christmas more difficult, but our Father helped me through it.

The time I spent in Chiang Mai with my brothers, sisters, and fellow workers was like a dream. The beautiful environment was like the entrance hall to Heaven! In fact, my ten-year-old students in the Primary School where I teach watched the video I made while there and one of them asked, “Uncle Tony, is it, Heaven?”. This is what Jesus says, “All people will know that you are my followers if you love each other” (John 13:35). I believe that we all felt this Godly love coming from each other. English is not my mother tongue, yet I felt loved and accepted by all present, despite the language barrier.

I am grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know my brothers and sisters in person. I have received tons of love and encouragement from them.

Our brother, Alan Amavisca’s teaching from 1 Samuel Chapter 14 was particularly interesting and valuable for me. It is a seldom preached passage of the Bible. We received a profound message from him, which then we discussed, applied, and internalized in small groups interactively. Special thanks to sister Lisa Halverstadt, who kindly and lovingly helped Sabino, his daughter Clariver, and me, whose first language isn’t English, during the small group discussions.

I am grateful to God that this is the church where we started planting churches 25 years ago, in accordance with Romans 15:20-21, which is our scripture of calling. We worked with our brother, Dr. John Williams for 20 years, and it is his love in Christ that I experienced in Chiang Mai from all the EFM and the EFC-I Council leaders. (I should mention everyone by name here really.) Jesus says, “The one who leads should be like one who serves” (Luke 22:26). I observed and felt this kind of serving love and humility by all the leaders in the EFM and the EFC-I Council.

On my return, I had a wonderful testimony to share about the Chiang Mai Conference. Numerous photos and videos brought the events to life for my brothers and sisters in Hungary, Serbia, and Croatia. We all feel blessed and grateful that we can build our church in Hungary and Europe as part of EFM. God has given us a real home in this family. We are so thankful for you all.

In Christ’s love,
Antal (Tony) Frei

Hello Friends of EFM,

I officially started at Evangelical Friends Mission on August 1. These last few weeks, I’ve been reflecting on the team effort required to “make disciples in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” It inspires me to realize that, yes, we all are partnering together with others around the world. This work is not easy, but it is significant. It impacts eternity. I am grateful we labor together.

Here in the beginning, I want to share a bit of my story. It is the underlying motivation for joining you in what God is doing through you and through EFM.

……shining outside my window as I journeyed home on a nearly empty, cross-country red-eye special. In wonder, I gazed down at this stream of lights – town after town, city after city. Around Phoenix, God transformed seat 8F into a sanctuary.

“Each light represents a life,” many of them helpless and harassed, like sheep without a shepherd.

I prayed, “What would it take to unleash God’s people with such conviction that somehow, some way, we could live out and usher in the Kingdom of God in every single one of the places?” The answer came… a Spirit-led movement.

“A million lights, a million lives…” continues to inspire me. In almost each place I visit – Phnom Penh, Bangkok, Mussoorie, Jakarta, Kathmandu, Budapest, London, Dublin, San Salvador, Peronia, Aguascalientes, Los Angeles, Seattle and many others – I look to find a high point. Sometimes it is a tall building, sometimes a hill. I want to see lights.

Since deplaning that over-night flight, I pray, think, study and train motivated by the hope that God’s Spirit will release his relentless love, compelling his people forward with the power of a movement. Scripture, history and experience convince me that a key human element to experiencing movement is equipping leaders to equip others. This conviction is matched by the purpose of EFM.

I am excited about this new opportunity. My hope is that God will create a scenario in which together we experience “a million lights, a million lives” disciple-making movement.

Today, most of all, I am grateful. I’m thankful for our missionaries, who strive to make disciples in dozens of places around the world. I’m moved by the national leaders in each one of those places who sacrifice to carry forward the Kingdom of God. I’m encouraged by the Friends congregations here in the United States who unify (in prayer, in sending, in going) around our commitment to fulfill the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment. I’m appreciative of the EFM staff who tirelessly works to enhance ministry around the world.

I realize our call (as disciple-makers) is challenging. It compels us to pray and carries us to a deeper experience of God’s Spirit. Our confidence is that God continues to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine, because his power is at work in his people.

The greatest, most noble aspiration is that a million lives would encounter the One who is life, who is the light of all, who is, in fact, Jesus.

Together, we carry that light. To God be the glory!

Each year we prepare an annual report for the representatives of those yearly meetings/regions that meet during the summer. We call it the “Summer Update.” Through this post we are sharing the EFM Summer 2021 Update.

We are sharing this report with you because of your interest in and support for the ministries of EFM. We pray that the report will not only help to keep you informed but that it will also be helpful to you in praying and giving. There is an important announcement on the first page of this report that reminds us that missions is not just about praying and giving, however. It’s also about going! May you be open to the ways in which the Lord is leading you to be part of the answer to the prayer for more workers in his harvest fields.

At EFM, we are learning of a growing number of people interested in missions service (or interested in exploring the idea of missions service) on a long-term basis (4 years to life) or a short-term basis (one to four years). We call people like this, in short: “future missionaries.” To be considered a future missionary in EFM’s context, means you are sincere and committed about following Jesus wherever he would have you go to serve in obeying his commandments, and you are open to exploring the idea of being a missionary to another country and people group.

If you are a future missionary who might be interested in any of these opportunities, please let us know by completing this quick 2021 Future Missionary RSVP and Survey Form so that we can provide you with more information as it becomes available in coming days/weeks and so that we know more about your availability and interest as we plan these and other opportunities.
