Pray for the Luke 10 Pre-Launch Planning Trip to Mexico!

By Fall 2023, 17 teams had been sent out to explore 11 different potential new mission fields since EFM’s Five-Year Goal launched in 2021. In November 2023, EFM made a commitment to launch 6 of the 9 fields that were still under exploration. Those six fields are now moving on to the pre-launch planning phases. See more information here.

A Luke 10 Pre-Launch Planning Trip occurs after EFM has made a decision of commitment to launching the mission field. EFM commissions Field Study Groups to complete a Pre-Launch Planning Report, which often requires further trips to obtain the details necessary for EFM to be able to deploy missionaries to a location to launch a new field.

This pre-launch planning trip to Mexico is leaving today and taking place between June 10-14! The team of 13 people will include Ernesto Ramirez (Superintendent Mexico YM Central), Elizabeth Gomez (Director of ITA -Friends Theology Institute), Samuel and Cristina Vasquez (Superintendent of Mexico YM North), Luisa Ayala (Pastor in Mexico YM North), Sergio and Nancy Cardona (Pastors Friends Ciudad Juarez), two Future Missionaries from Mexico YM North, one Future Missionary from Mexico YM Central, Matt Macy (EFM Director of Mobilization), and Edwin and Maria Giron (EFM missionaries). The exploration during this trip is planned to take place at some main cities in the two states of Durango and San Luis Potosi.

Trip leader Maria Giron shared these insights into this upcoming trip. The purpose of this trip is to explore and learn the needs of these states in Mexico where there is still no presence of Friends contributing to the expansion of the kingdom of God. We will be gathering info to complete EFM’s Pre-Launch Planning Report. We will ask for guidance from God to know which cities in these states have the potential for us to send missionaries and church planters to start new ministries. Additionally, there are intentions to have conversations between EFM and Friends Leaders of Mexico and pray for the future and process of creating partnership and forming multinational teams.

The following are ways that you can pray for this team while they are in Mexico.

  • Pray for the conversations between EFM and the leaders of Mexico. May God guide us by giving us wisdom and may there be a feeling of unity with the purpose of serving and being obedient together.
  • Pray that we have intentional meetings with key people that God has prepared for us to meet during this trip. And may always we be examples of God’s love and grace to all the people with whom we have an encounter.
  • Pray that all of us who are going to be part of the journey be sensitive to listening and seeing what the Holy Spirit wants to show us.
  • For safety and protection from danger on roads and in towns. For health throughout the trip to all of us who are traveling.

The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to cast out more workers into his fields.
