EFM/NWYM are seeking “followers of Jesus” willing to consider the ‘great adventure’ of incarnate missions to the Amazon rainforest (the Garden of Eden) among the Shuar (the people). We are looking for the following…
-
Well-established family to “live, listen, learn and love” the Shuar people.
-
Households/Individuals who can provide support – all kinds of support to the team…teaching, encouraging, helping with various tasks, befriending the Shuar people in the community.
-
Ministry to children in the community – friendship, encouragement, discipleship.
-
Women’s ministry in the community – friendship, encouragement, discipleship.
-
Leading a basic Bible study. There is a great desire among the Shuar to learn/understand/live the truths of God. Our vision is to equip Shuar people to reach Shuar people with the Good News.
-
Leadership development. (short-term and long-term commitment)
-
House parents (providing a safe, secure, friendly home) for Shuar students attending schools a great distance from their family’s home.
We seek to form a team made up of several well-functioning families and individuals whose lives reflect God’s grace and mercy to one another and their neighbors who are willing to immerse themselves among their Shuar neighbors. Individuals will function in leadership development and foundational Bible study. They will work together in children’s outreach and women’s ministry. The opportunities and needs are great.
The ultimate goal is to establish healthy, vibrant, mission-minded Shuar churches, pastored and led by Shuar. Shuar churches are eager to share the Good News with their neighbors and neighboring unreached people groups of the Amazon region.
